Roger Kent Miller was born October 25, 1947, to Harold Miller and Hazel Goheen Miller and passed away July 3, 2018. After a recent cancer diagnosis he fought a brief, but hopeful battle. He was 70 years old.
Roger was born in Beloit, Kansas, grew up in the Twelve-Mile community of rural Portis, and lived in Portis throughout his life. He graduated from Portis High School.
On April 6, 1974, Roger married Susan Plush in Glasco, Kansas. They made their home in the Portis community and Roger continued his involvement with the family farming operation. During their 44 years of marriage they were blessed with a daughter, Mindy.
Roger was a lifelong farmer/rancher who was passionate about his livestock and the outdoors. From a very young age he loved to hunt, fish, and trap. Reading, visiting with friends, his pets, auctions, and trips to the Rocky Mountains were some of his greatest joys.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife, Susan, and daughter Mindy.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6th at South Oak Creek Cemetery, Downs KS. A Celebration of Rogers life will follow at the St. Aloysius Parish Center in Osborne, KS. Memorials may be made to Hospice Services of Northwest Kansas and Osborne Public Library.
