Lorena M. (Cordel) Gronewoller, 95, of Tipton, passed away, Thursday, March 14, 2019. She was born five miles east of Tipton on the family farm, August 20, 1923 to Peter and Barbara (Bach) Cordel.
Lorena was married to her husband John and to this union had four sons. She lived on the farm where she was a homemaker for the majority of her life.
Lorena and John occasionally liked to travel, but for the most part stayed near the farm. She especially enjoyed cooking for the crews that helped harvest in the summer. Fried chicken was a big hit and she and her sisters all helped prepare the chickens for the many meals they served. She also enjoyed tending to her garden. There were always a lot of cats on the farm which Lorena loved. She also loved dogs.
She is survived by her children; Frank Gronewoller of Ionia, John Gronewoller of Onaga, Mark Gronewoller of Tipton, and grandchildren; Riley, Paige, John, Eryn, and Jarod. She is preceded in death by her husband John, son Larry and sisters; Marie and Della.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 21 from 5-7 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with a rosary/vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday March 22 at the church. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church and Hospice Services of Phillipsburg.
