Lila Kay Scott, age 76, of Downs, passed away April 28, 2024. Lila was born January 24,1948 in El Reno, OK to Ed Stiner and Dorris Harris.
Lila grew up in El Reno and also raised her three children Lorie, Tammy, and James there. After her biggest accomplishment of raising her children Lila decided she needed a change of scenery and moved to Downs, KS. Lila loved living in Downs and considered it home for the last 40 years.
Lila first worked at the Northside Cafe in Cawker City where she met many lifelong friends. Lila then met her life love and companion, Elwyn Mein, while working at Glen Elder State Park. Lila and Elwyn lived in Downs while Lila ran the Central Station Restaurant for 15 years. Then also retiring in Downs. Lila then decided retirement wasn’t her style so she started cooking again at the Downs Senior Center.
Lila is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Randy, Ronnie, and Mike Stiner, and son James Carl Thomas, El Reno, OK.
Left to miss Lila is her spouse Elwyn Mein, Downs, daughters Lorie Thomas (Kirk) Norman, OK and Tammy Rousseau (Steve) Hastings, NE, step-daughters Jill Ade (Clint) Gypsum, KS and Kim Mein(Mike) Salina, KS. Grandchildren James Thomas, El Reno, OK, Destiny Alloway (Kory), Desiree, Dixie, Stevie, Daniel, and Aiden Rousseau, Hastings, NE, Logan Ade(Ashlee), Gypsum, KS, and 8 great grandchildren. Siblings, Ed Stiner(Terri) and Vickie Lawley (John).
Visitation will be Monday, May 6th from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Tuesday, May 7th. Interment will follow at Downs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church and St. Judes Children's Hospital.
